Upcycling is my new favorite term...
How amazing to take an object that has already been created (for one purpose) and re-think it
to create something new using the initial concept
in a completely different way!
I heart
THE NEW YORK TIMES - ARTS Section.
This article about The Museum of Arts and Design
caught my eye
reminding me how much I heart the concept of
Creation = Art.
It is:
USING OLD MATERIALS TO PUT A NEW FACE ON A MUSEUM
"Together the works broadcast loud and clear the museum’s ambition to upgrade its profile and segue from its previous concentration on craft to a hipper, more wide-ranging program"
The New York Times
Take a look:
These images of Art made from up-cycled materials
not only are exciting,
but,
if you look in the background at the framed picture & flower,
they are equally as intriguing!

I am a HUGE butterfly fan... these up-cycled records shaped as butterflies are my favorite!
I always wondered what people did with their old frames...
here is a great example!
"disposable materials yield thought-provoking beauty"
The New York Times
"Such garments should be available to people who make it through the four jampacked floors of art and whatnot in the museum’s new jewel-box-like home without losing an eye or their sanity. The shows resemble an art seminar-cum-food-fight — an amazing cacophony that is by turns dismaying, enervating, infuriating and invigorating. I recommend a visit"
The New York Times
I have been to a few of museums in NYC but never this one.
I am going to make it a MUST on my next trip!
